The Problem
With the works being required within a critical live working environment, everything had to be planned so all parties were aware of the activities.
Completing such works within a data centre wasn’t daunting to the staff however it was a much harder task, therefore we had to reassure the clients. Knowing that this site manages emergency services communications systems and the role this Data Centre undertook daily, pressure was heightened.
Challenges
Capital put a plan together for the works within this sensitive site, along with the data centres to be completed over a predetermined time frame. This plan took into consideration the requirements of the site such as SC cleared staff only being allowed to work within the Data Centre.
On top of this, the need to undertake the works whilst the environment was live and knowing the critical nature of the site posed a further challenge.
Solution
A small dedicated team was placed within the site for 2 weeks. This allowed for a more controlled approach and put the end clients mind at rest. All works were completed to a dedicated schedule, so individual isolations and back ups were put in place as a precaution.
Each aspect of the works were signed off by the client within both Data Centres throughout the time on site. This allowed them to monitor daily progress and continue their work.
