Here at Capital, we’re extremely excited to announce our desired expansion for 2022 and the hugely exciting collaborations ahead. This year has already begun with a bang, with further contracts being signed and clients coming on board. We’re looking forward to tackling the challenges that this will bring.

While we’ve already begun working on new contracts, we’re also just as excited about potential projects that were won in the previous year and are yet to commence.

It’s not just ourselves we’re thinking of however, as we’ve also been implementing plans over the last two years to ensure we’re in a strong position to assist our clients in their expansion plans too. This is something we’ll be focusing on over the forthcoming period with our main aim being to deliver our same high standards of work across all areas.

They are always noticeable when you see colleagues suffering at work. Seasonal cleaning always demanded the best from our computer cleaning service, especially during Summer and Spring. Allergic Rhinitis

One in five people in the UK are affected by rhinitis. Inflammation inside the nose is caused by pollen, mold, dust or flakes of skins from certain animals.

Symptoms – Many of the symptoms are typical of colds. Sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, itchy sinuses, itchy throat, itchy eyes, itchy ear canals, ear congestion and postnasal drainage. Many of the allergies do share similar attributes and it is important to distinguish between them. The severity of symptoms depends on the state of your immune system. Hay Fever

Hay fever is a relation of allergic rhinitis and also affects one in five people. It is caused by allergic reactions to pollen. Pollen is released by plants as part of their reproductive cycle. Often grass accounts for 90% of suffers symptoms. Tree, grass and weed pollen all contribute to hay fever. Often is a pollen count is used to identify the levels of pollen in the air.

Seasonal Influenza

Flu is a viral illness and a common infection spread by coughing and sneezing. Flu is not to be confused with the common cold, as flu is longer lasting and has severe symptoms.

Symptoms – Common symptoms are high temperature, headaches, aches, pains, tiredness, sore throat, lose of appetite, feeling nauseous and coughing. More flu information here.

Heat Allergies

One of the most common heat related reactions is heat rash. Heat rash is pink or red in appearance. Usually found on parts of the body covered by clothes.  Commonly caused by blocked and swollen sweat ducts. Hot and humid climates are the most common triggers.

Symptoms – Rash can appear on the head, neck and shoulders. Clothes help to irritate the rash. Scratching the rash will only go on to make the symptoms worse. More information on heat rash can be found here.

Summer Colds

It can be difficult to distinguish between colds and allergies during Spring and Summer as symptoms are similar. Either can trigger asthma or make allergies worse.

Symptoms – The main symptoms that can help establish a cold from an allergy in the summer is fever or muscle aches. These two symptoms are normally associated with colds. More information and advice is available here.

Seasonal Asthma

Airborne allergies such as hay fever  cause inflammation and constriction of  airways, which in turn can trigger asthma. Also a  sudden rise in temperature can trigger asthma attacks, and in extreme cases it is thought that thunderstorms can also cause attacks.

Indoor Allergies

Indoor allergies can be caused by a number of things. Dust, dust mites, mold, pet dander and cockroaches are often contributors of indoor allergies.

Extreme temperatures

Extreme tempertures are also linked to changed in bodily function. Cold and damp weather can impact the mobility of your joints, where as high temperatures have been linked to an increase in heart risk.

Not only are children more susceptible to catching flu and other bugs because their immune systems are not as strong as those of adults, but they’re also more likely to spread the disease.

Young children often don’t cover their mouth or use a tissue when they cough or sneeze. Nor do they tend to wash their hands properly or regularly enough. Those at nursery or school also come into contact with more people, including other children, teachers, parents and carers.

We’ve said before how bugs are most commonly spread by touching and children are very tactile with each other and their parents or carers, grandparents or siblings. So it’s no wonder they’re more exposed to and more likely to pass on flu to others.

Vaccination

The government recognises children play a big role in spreading flu and last year started giving the flu vaccine as part of the NHS childhood vaccination programme.

From September 2013, all children aged two and three were offered a new nasal spray flu vaccine, along with those aged 2-18 with long-term health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and lung disease. The nasal spray flu vaccine will be rolled out to all children aged 16 and under over time.

Flu data collected from schools

The launch of the nasal spray flu vaccine last year also coincided with flu data being collected from schools for the first time (winter 2013-14), as part of the UK’s annual Flusurvey. Scientists from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, which carries out the Flusurvey in partnership with the British Science Association, wanted to understand the role children play in catching and spreading flu.

Even in a ‘light’ flu season, such as the one we’ve just had in 2013-14, children tend to have the highest rates of flu. Flusurvey’s recent results show that the 0-18 age group had more instances of flu and that living with children, or being around large groups of them, increased people’s chances of getting flu.

Flusurvey researcher Dr Alma Adler, Research Fellow at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, speaking in December 2013, said: “Flu levels are still very low but where there are flu cases, we’re seeing most of them among under-18s. This is in line with what we already know from previous years about children being the ‘key spreaders’ of flu.”
